Application

Railway perimeter fencing

Railway perimeter fencing separates the open line from adjacent land and restricts access to stations, depots and substations. Along the line, the specified boundary is woven chain-link mesh, not a 358 or 2D panel run. The chain-link source lists roll heights of 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, 2.0, 2.4, 2.8 and 3.0 m, with wire diameters of 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 or 4.5 mm. The route drawing should identify line sections, corners and maintenance access before the roll height and post schedule are selected. At a station, depot or substation, a separately specified welded-mesh system may instead be appropriate. Those two applications must be identified as different parts of the project rather than described as one continuous product. Gate openings and any security topping are specified against each location and should not be inferred from a photograph of a different railway site.

Client-approved drawings before production

We do not ship a generic kit. You send the brief or drawing; we return a dimensioned panel, post, topping and gate drawing; you confirm it; then we produce. The example below is a 2D 4/6/4 anti-climb panel with BTO concertina topping — the same workflow we use for railway, station and depot runs, including high-speed rail corridors.

Railway fence types

Each type below is quoted to the specification you send. Heights, mesh type, posts and toppings follow your drawing, not a fixed catalogue kit.

Standard high-speed line fence

The continuous fence along the corridor is a 1.8 m wildlife mesh in single-torsion (chain-link) construction on hot-dip galvanised posts, finished with three barbed wires on top. It keeps game and people off the track over long runs. This line type is single-torsion mesh — not 358 anti-climb panel.

Sensitive-area fence

Where the risk assessment calls for climb resistance — bridge approaches, tunnel mouths, urban sections — the fence rises to 2.5 m and carries a 45° barbed arm at the top. Arm direction, mesh type and post spacing are set on the drawing.

Station, depot and substation 358 / 2D

Stations, depots and traction substations use 358 anti-climb mesh (approx. 76.2 × 12.7 mm aperture) or 2D 4/6/4 welded mesh with matched posts and fixings, hot-dip galvanised to EN ISO 1461 and optionally powder coated in catalogue RAL. 358 and 2D are used here — not on the open line.

Gates and portals

Access points are supplied as pedestrian gates, single and double swing gates and sliding gates, in the same mesh as the adjoining run, with locking and hinge sets to your access plan.

Tall wildlife / moose fence

Where moose and large game cross the corridor, the same single-torsion wildlife mesh is raised to 2.6–2.8 m. Height, post section and embedment depth are confirmed on the drawing before production.
